Our Story

Aloha!

I'm Abra — and if you're like me, you might have spent years avoiding sunblock altogether. The greasy texture, the fake fragrance, the questionable chemical ingredients... it was easier to just skip it, which meant a childhood of painful sunburns.

Now I'm a mom of two active boys on Maui, and sunblock isn't optional anymore. Protecting our skin — from sunburns, from untested chemicals, from all of it — became my mission. But nothing on the market was something I actually loved.

So I started researching ingredients myself. As a small-scale beekeeper, I already had my own beeswax on hand, and I began experimenting in my kitchen with simple, organic ingredients. My goal: a zinc-based mineral sunblock that was long-lasting, healthy, affordable, and — most importantly — actually pleasant to wear. Something that would go on smoothly, with a light cocoa tint so I wouldn't look even paler.

My first critics were my own sons. They loved it from the first use, and neither of them has been sunburned since. Sharing it with friends and family has been such a delight — and knowing I'm protecting our bodies and the ocean at the same time is what keeps me making it, one tin at a time.
